Frequently Asked
Questions
What is paediatric sleep training?
Supporting an infant, toddler or child's sleep is about nurturing a sense of rhythm, routine, security, and trust around sleep and rest. Through warmth, presence, love and gentle guidance, parents can help their child gradually feel comfortable settling into sleep in their own independent way.
What is your approach to paediatric sleep support?
I use a gentle, structured approach that respects developmental stages and your parenting values. I do not use harsh or abrupt sleep training methods and do not support the 'cry it out' method. Instead, I focus on healthy routines, connection, and respectful sustainable adjustments.
What is the role of the sleep consultant?
We are expected to educate families or caregivers on: sleep hygiene, the biological necessity of sleep, safe sleep practices, keeping a sleep log, setting boundaries. We are there to hold space, encourage and support.
What should I expect from a personalised sleep plan?
We will explore your child’s current sleep patterns and daily rhythm and identify any challenges affecting sleep. Your personalised sleep plan may include:
- suggested daily rhythm and wake windows
- gentle bedtime routines and calming rituals
- strategies for night waking that maintain connection
- sleep environment recommendations
What is a Doula?
A Doula is a guardian of birth, a compassionate companion who educates, accompanies, empowers and supports parents physically, emotionally, and spiritually through pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum. She nurtures confidence, trust, serenity, and a sense of security, allowing the birth process to unfold naturally with informed care and wisdom.
What do you offer in your prenatal Doula meetings?
Depending on your personal priorities or needs, we can have discussions around many birth topics including and not limited to: birth preferences, the different stages of labour, comfort measures during labour, options for pain relief, movement and positioning, relaxation guidance, induction considerations, potential interventions, 'big baby' or shoulder dystocia, caesarian preferences, newborn procedures, birthing the placenta, previous birth experiences, decision-making support, confidence building, newborn bonding and care, breastfeeding, rest and recovery, the forth trimester, mental health support, support networks, visitor boundaries and more...
Do you support hospital births and home births?
Yes. I support families planning hospital, birth center, or home births. My role is to provide continuous emotional and practical support alongside your medical or midwifery team.
When should I book doula support?
It’s often best to arrange Doula support during the second trimester, as this gives you a wider choice of availability. That said, you’re very welcome to get in touch at any point in your pregnancy. An initial session is usually recommended around weeks 26 - 28, giving you time to connect and prepare together. The final prenatal meeting is ideally planned before week 38, so everything is in place ahead of your baby’s arrival.
Can partners be involved in the process?
Absolutely. I work alongside partners, helping them feel confident and supported in their role.
How do I know if my baby is ready to move to solid foods?
Babies develop at their own individual pace, but there are typical physical, developmental, and behavioural signs that demonstrate your little one may be ready to start experimenting with solid foods. You can find out more by downloading my FREE First Foods Readiness Assessment. Personally I do not recommend introducing solids before 6 months or 26 weeks of age.
How do online consultations work?
After booking and if applicable, you will receive intake forms which need to be completed online prior to a consultation. Sessions are held via video call unless otherwise stated. Follow-up support is provided according to your chosen package.
What if I’m not sure which package is right for me?
You’re welcome to reach out for a brief discovery call. I’m happy to help you choose the support that best fits your needs.
